Call for Papers (Special Issue on Academic Data Services)

Following the successful launch of its inaugural issue the IJoL calls for papers for a special issue on data services and management. This is an area that is rapidly evolving and around the world librarians are dealing with distinct technological, regulatory and theoretical challenges. The IJoL invites both practitioners and researchers to share their experiences and strategies. Articles about any aspects of academic and research data services and data librarianship are welcomed.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Quantitative and statistical literacy, data reference, and outreach
  • Curation, preservation, and research data management
  • Tools and support for data linkage, analysis, and visualization
  • Cataloguing, metadata standards and data documentation
  • Journal and funder policies
  • Collection development, access modes, open data
  • Digital humanities and qualitative data
  • Science, engineering, geospatial and large-scale data

Articles are generally 3000 – 5000 words in length, and should be in APA (American Psychological Association) format. Shorter or longer articles may be accepted if deemed to be of high quality. Papers submitted to this special issue must be original and must not be under consideration for publication in any other journal or conference.

This special issue will be published in the summer of 2017. The manuscript submission deadline is May 1, 2017.
